Lime Essential Oil Origins
With origins in the East Indian Archipelago islands, Lime (Citrus aurantiifolia) is a citrus fruit with a very distinct smell. It is believed that from the Archipelagos, lime spread east to South America and also west to Eastern Africa and the Middle East, including Iran, Egypt, and Arabia, eventually arriving in southern Europe.

While most people think of Florida as predominantly an orange state,  Botanical historians believe that European travelers then brought lime seeds from Europe to the West Indies and Florida. The green fruit quickly became popular, subsequently traveling to all of the “sunshine states” like Texas and California, eventually heading south to Mexico and South America.

Therapeutic Effects
